Overcoming Communication Breakdowns in Organizations: A Problem-Solving Experience
Communication breakdowns can significantly impact the effectiveness and cohesion of an organization. This article explores a personal experience of encountering a study in communication within an organization and highlights the problem-solving process employed to address the issue.
The incident involved a suggested topic for a meeting agenda that was omitted intentionally, reflecting an organizational culture that silenced certain voices and avoided specific discussions. However, through experientially based decision-making processes, the organization’s leadership was able to rectify the situation and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive communication.
Identifying the Problem
The problem arose when I submitted a suggested topic for a future meeting agenda through an established online form. Despite receiving a confirmation of receipt, the case was not included in the plan at the subsequent general body meeting.
