I have chosen the Mayo Clinic as it is a nonprofit American academic medical organization that is primarily involved in integrated clinical practice, education, and research. Mayo Clinic is an immense healthcare facility located in Rochester, Minnesota, the operations of which are renowned since they take up various health-related services (Valino, 2021).

From my point of view, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the mission, vision, and values of a particular organization, notably Mayo Clinic, as it determines the performance of the organization in terms of its guidelines, as well as its general purpose and objectives. For example, the organizational and strategic level of the healthcare organization is determined by the mission, vision, and values of an organization, the job and responsibilities of nurses and other healthcare personnel, patient care, cooperative and collaborative relationships with other members, ideas or concepts for improvement and innovation.

Description of the Organization

Name of the Organization

Mayo Clinic

Mission Statement

The mission of the Mayo Clinic says: “Inspiring hope and promoting health with integrated clinical practice, education, and research.

Vision

The vision of Mayo Clinic begins with: “Transforming medicine to connect and cure as the global authority in the care of serious or complex disease”.

Values

  • Our institutional primary value:The needs of the patient come first.
  • Our core values:Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Healing, Teamwork, Innovation, Excellence, and Stewarts.
  • Our values-driven culture.

Evaluation of the Leadership Behavior

At Mayo Clinic, leaders can model appropriate behaviors that portray voluntarism towards the ideas of the company, mission, vision, and values. For example, leaders involve themselves in dealing with cross-disciplinary team huddles for comprehensive care of patients, going for educational sessions and research activities, and putting the interests of the patient first at all times (Wolf, 2022). They ensure that their organization operates in a culture that promotes the enhancement of innovation and helps the staff to refine their competence.

These leadership behaviors are in agreement with the vision of the Mayo Clinic of best care from integrated clinic, education, and research pursuits (Wolf, 2022). The aspect of teamwork and collaboration is an essential element in the actualization of the vision of providing an excellent experience in the context of a healthcare setting. These outcomes are linked to value propositions of respect, compassion, and integrity that leaders need in pursuing patient-centered care and ethical business practices.

Alignment with the Nursing Core Values

Mayo Clinic upholds most of the nursing core values, which exhibit control and provide a conducive working environment for nurses to provide the best care to patients. The focus on respect, compassion, and integrity is a guarantee that the nurses can meet the needs of the patient in a holistic manner and meet their ethical responsibilities (Koskinen et al., 2022). Devotion to professionalism and the concept of carrying academic progress states professionalism that surrounds licensed nurses, developing clinical abilities that are advanced, and enhancing patient care.

Its relations to the organizational value of Mayo Clinic and its unique nursing core value are highly favorable to the conception of professional identity and role commitment of the nurses. In the management of nursing, the perception of nurses may lead to organizational commitment since the core values of the nursing profession correspond to its mission statement and implemented practices of a specific organization (Koskinen et al., 2022). This alignment has the potential to promote a positive work environment, where nurses feel valued and respected and, as a result, are satisfied with their jobs, have the chance to grow in the available professional roles, and develop a sense of identity as a professional who is committed to the provision of quality, patient-centered care.

Comparison with the Personal Philosophy of Nursing

Nursing is an important profession that is concerned with the health of the patient through nursing care that involves receiving, assessing, nursing, diagnosing, treating, and discharging. I have to mention I believe in patient care values of respecting patients and their rights in the care delivery process and promoting patient-centered healing. This system starts with the foundation of evidence-based practice and emphasizes learning from experience and seeking support from other disciplines to offer extensive care (Okada, 2023). I will always act professionally and responsibly towards myself and other people. I will fight for the rights of patients and respect for their dignity. I will strive to make people healthier and more aware of the dangers that threaten them.

The following discussion expounds on the various areas of the correlation between the personal philosophy of nursing and the mission, vision, and values of Mayo Clinic. They both have put stress on the need to take care of the patient more than focusing on the disease, empathy, and dignity of the people affected. My principles and values in support of evidence-based practice and lifelong learning are in synch with the strategy for the Mayo Clinic, consisting of balanced, integrated practice, education, and research.

Furthermore, the role of collaborative work and ethical practices that are important to me are reflected in this organisation’s values system, in which the basics of teamwork and integrity are underlined (Okada, 2023). There might be some differences, but as far as we are concerned, the innovation and research at Mayo Clinic and the concentration on practice and patient advocacy are what I prefer. I do appreciate research and innovation, but my oriented practices are more or less routine patient care and action.

In conclusion, I examined the mission, vision, and values of the Mayo Clinic and analyzed the leadership behavior on the basis of these elements. Lastly, I compared the above aspects to the nursing core values, and finally, I established the congruency of this knowledge in relation to my philosophy of nursing. Thus, it can be imperative for nurses to know the mission, vision, and values of an organization, as it may shape their practice and ensure that individual and organizational goals are complementary, as well as provide nurses and other related personnel the necessary support they need for their work to be successful and to improve the outcomes for their patients as well as institutions.
