  1. What are some of your personal goals for personal, professional, and leadership development that you will achieve in the practicum experience?

My practicum experience is my chance to achieve various goals. My personal goal of building my cultural competency and emotional intelligence is to help me build better relationships with patients and colleagues. I would like to apply theoretical knowledge from my MSN program to effective healthcare issues related to the implementation of evidence-based practice. Professional growth will focus on how to guide interdisciplinary groups to progress communication behaviors and advocate policies that support improved patient outcomes. I will also train to identify systemic healthcare gaps and devise appropriate solutions to address them. My intended objectives will develop the skills required to become a creative nursing leader.

  1. Reflect on your feelings about DEI principles and implicit bias. In your chosen field, how do these principles influence your choices and actions? What effects does implicit prejudice have on our growth as leaders and professionals?

The implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles creates conditions for delivering patient care in a way that promotes inclusivity and fairness (Mullin et. My work and practice are transformed because these values fostered an understanding of diverse cultural values, social needs, and language barriers to healthcare delivery. Unconscious implicit bias in healthcare decisions has interpersonal and clinical outcome implications for healthcare personnel and the patient. Awareness and management of implicit biases can help healthcare professionals become better individuals, as well as fairly treat all their patients. The practice of gravity of diversity, equality, and inclusion increases my professional ability to direct multiple staff teams and defend defenseless communities. In this, equity is the focus of building trust with others and being able to provide better care, and for myself, becoming a more inclusive leader within nursing practice.

  1. What steps can you take to further incorporate DEI principles into your practicum experience?

I must incorporate the principles of DEI in my practicum, and therefore, I must educate myself about cultural competence as well as actively participate in DEI training programs. I will collaborate with experts representing other sectors to identify and eliminate healthcare disparities. I will endorse practices that incorporate interpretation services using education resources that are culturally appropriate to all students. I will still seek feedback with the patients alongside other colleagues in an effort to develop my DEI strategy. I will participate in analyzing my own prejudices in addition to addressing assumptions that could inhibit fair health care provision. By adopting means of inclusive communication, I will become a diversity equity agent, an inclusion agent in the healthcare sector.

  1. Consider a recent interaction with a client. How did you incorporate DEI principles into this interaction? What could you have done differently to better promote DEI?

My recent experience with a client included the promotion of DEI principles based on cultural sensitivity of diet by cooperating with diet staff to meet patients’ needs. I have made it a point to be attentive to the concerns of my patient to earn their trust and respect. As a result of my experience, I can imagine that there is still more I need to work on. Advancing DEI by engaging the patient’s family to develop a better understanding of cultural values that should include educational materials tailored to the patient’s needs (Nikpour et al., 2022). Working collaboratively with empathy and cultural sensitivity to provide patient care that reflects DEI principles ultimately results in better patient satisfaction and improved patient outcomes in a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive environment.

  1. How can you leverage your specialization courses to help you prepare for your MSN capstone project?

The specialization coursework has provided me with the skills and knowledge to succeed in my MSN capstone project. Evidence-based practice courses equipped me with skills to appraise research and subsequently apply research findings in practice to improve care. My training as a leader has equipped me with powerful skills to manage teams and bring change in the organization. My training in population health has broadened my knowledge of health disparities that manifest why community-based interventions are important in different communities. I will bring together my MSN program learning by choosing a medical problem of significant urgency to solve, and thereafter develop a plan of action around research collaboration and spearhead its effective execution and significant evaluation of its successful solution.
